• Responsibilities

Performs highly advanced (senior-level) data warehouse development work as a key member of a small but essential data management team in the role of a data warehouse developer/analyst. This individual will collaborate closely with the data management team to develop and enhance the enterprise data warehouse using SQL Server and data warehouse automation tools. The Worker expected to contribute to the agency’s ongoing process improvements within its data management program, focusing on areas such as data quality, reporting, and change management activities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Functions:
• As a Data Warehouse Developer/Analyst, the worker will function as a part of a team and must have the following skills:
• Performs advanced data warehouse architectural work including data warehouse design, data modeling, and metadata design
• Works closely with business SMEs to reverse engineer the rules that govern business processes, corresponding data streams, and associated source systems
• Translates business needs into high level technical designs for business intelligence solutions; applies rapid iterative development methodologies as appropriate to ensure the solution keeps pace with business needs
• Perform in-depth, thorough, and accurate reporting or ad hoc analysis as needed
• Contributes to the long-term vision of the Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) by delivering Agile solutions
• Develops efficient ETL for loading the data warehouse and makes timely data available for business users
• Assists in capturing processes, procedures and other metadata in documentation; ensures that documentation is well organized, complete, and appropriate for the audience
• Troubleshoots, supports and maintains the data warehouse and associated tools used by the team (i.e. SQL servers)
• Contributes to and follows best practices established by the governance council, data stewards and enterprise data officer
• Develops and improves continuous release and testing processes
• Designs, deploys, and manages standardized, centralized data sources for agency reporting
• Helps to establish best practices for development, testing, migration and error handling
• Implements and maintains business intelligence security best practices including those related to HIPAA
• Performs other duties as assigned

• Experience with PeopleSoft HRMS or Finance packages preferred
• Experience with ERD Modeling & Maintenance
• Knowledge of business intelligence security best practices including those related to HIPAA
• Knowledge of dimensional modeling using star schemas with multiple fact tables
• Knowledge of RDBMS architecture and troubleshooting is desirable.
• Knowledge of Kimball dimensional models
• Knowledge of health care claims data
• Knowledge of data mining tools and methods
• Knowledge of analytic programming tools and methods (SQL, OLAP, Oracle, Tableau, Alteryx)
• Knowledge or exposure to the R programming language

Qualifications

Minimum (Required):
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, statistics, economics, finance, library science, or related business field.
• 3 years hands on experience in data warehouse development (i.e. WhereScape, etc.)
• 3 years hands on experience in SQL server ETL development (creating automated processes and troubleshooting issues) using services like SSIS, SSRS, SSAS
• 3 years hands on experience moving and manipulating large data sets
• 2 years hands on experience dimensional modeling for data warehouses
• 3 years hands on experience around documentation of standards, best practices, and governance as it relates to data warehouse development
• 2 years hands on experience in Generative AI and Alteryx

Preferred (Optional):
• Experience in health/life insurance, benefits, accounting and financials, or investment data related activities
• Experience with data tools (i.e. Alteryx, Visual Studio, SSIS, MSSQL, WhereScape)
• Experience with Azure and agile iterations
• Experience with ERP applications (i.e. PeopleSoft, Safyr, etc.)
• Knowledge of health care claims data (i.e. HIPPA data)
• Experience troubleshooting performance in SQL servers
• Experience with development and troubleshooting of Alteryx workflows.
