Job Description:

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership:

Develop and implement a robust data governance strategy and roadmap aligned with business objectives.

Advocate for data governance best practices across the organization to improve data accessibility, quality, and compliance.

Metadata Management:

Establish and maintain metadata management standards, policies, and procedures.

Oversee the capture, integration, and lifecycle of metadata to ensure data accuracy and traceability.

Collaborate with data stewards and business units to document and maintain metadata definitions and lineage.

Data Catalog Implementation:

Lead the implementation, configuration, and management of the enterprise-wide data catalog.

Drive adoption of the data catalog by training users and promoting its business value.

Monitor the catalog to ensure data assets are appropriately categorized, discoverable, and governed.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement:

Work closely with business units, IT, and data engineering teams to align governance practices with organizational goals.

Partner with compliance and legal teams to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, including GDPR, CCPA, and other standards.

Act as a bridge between technical and non-technical teams to promote data literacy.

Data Quality & Policy Management:

Define data quality metrics and enforce data integrity practices.

Develop, maintain, and enforce data governance policies, including roles and responsibilities for data ownership.

Tool Selection & Evaluation:

Evaluate and recommend tools for metadata management and data cataloging.

Stay updated on emerging technologies and trends in data governance and catalog solutions.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Management, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.

5+ years of experience in data governance, metadata management, or a related role.

Proven expertise in implementing and managing data catalogs (e.g., Collibra, Alation, Informatica, or similar tools).

Strong understanding of metadata standards, data lineage, and data classification frameworks.

Familiarity with regulatory frameworks and compliance requirements (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, SOX).
