Job OverviewA SF Bay Area medical device company is seeking a chemometrics scientist. Candidates involved in spectroscopic data analysis on subcutaneous spectroscopic measurements are most desired for efforts related to development of novel medical devices. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to be deeply involved in the science, development, machine learning (ML) and data analysis of a new generation of medical devices based on spectroscopic technologies. Full-time or contract position is available.
Responsibilities

Responsibilities include spectroscopic chemometric analysis, spectral data extractions and spectra analysis;
Machine learning and machine learning algorithm development;
Assist to work on providing feedback to modify and optimize spectroscopy experiments;
Provide data analysis and data-based guidance on spectroscopic experimental setup.

Requirements

Familiar with commercial chemometric analysis software and capable of setting up, building and training basic chemometric models using such tools
Strong background in multivariate statistical techniques including calibration, classification, and pattern recognition, for example, discriminant analysis on principal components or partial least squares regression
Expert in clustering, multivariate curve resolution characterization, and figures of merit in the spectroscopic measurements, performance characterization, model selection, verification & validation, and figures of merit. Familiar with machine learning approaches (e.g., MSPC, CNNs, et al)
Excellent understanding of the principles of spectroscopic instrumentation, sampling methodologies, and various techniques (e.g., fluorescence, near-infrared, Raman spectroscopy) is a major plus
Knowledge of tissue optics, tissue optical scattering, diffusely scattering media, turbid media, transmission Raman spectroscopy, is a plus
Strong capability within and adaptability to a fast-moving company with a dynamic work environment

Education and Experience
M.S. or Ph.D. in Spectroscopy, Photonics, Analytical Chemistry, Applied Physics, or EE/Engineering; 1-5 years working experience desired
