Business Intelligence Engineer

Role: BI Engineer

Location: Seattle WA

Duration: Long term

We are currently looking for Business Intelligence Engineer (BIE) resources to support marketing initiatives. We are hoping to find BIE contractor who can hit the ground running and contribute immediately to our ongoing analytics projects.

Below are the basic/preferred qualifications we are looking for BIE candidates:

Basic qualifications

1. Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field;

2. 5+ year of experience in business intelligence and statistical analysis role;

3. Experience with SQL/Python/VBA;

4. Power user with Tableau/PowerBI or other BI tools;

5. Proficiency in MS Excel;

6. Experience in building relational databases, reporting/BI platforms or leveraging statistics for data analytics;

7. Experience in modern data warehousing techniques (dimensional data modelling, experience with ETL, etc.);

8. Creation and ownership of metrics/reporting/dashboards/financial models for the different Business reviews cycles;

9. Participation in recurring performance reviews with leadership teams, owning one or multiple KPI’s or improvement areas including customer returns and bad debt / payments;

10. Work on various analysis and benchmarking exercises to highlight new areas for opportunities, socializing and driving best practice and insights across the operational teams;

11. Strong team player and the ability to work in a diverse environment with people in various locations; · Excellent verbal and written communication skills;

12. Impeccable attention to detail, passion for processes, systems and data mining;

13. Excellent listener, quick learner, and able to handle ambiguity;

14. Ability to work independently in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment.

Preferred qualifications

1. Experience with other object oriented programming languages (C++, C#, Java, Ruby…);

2. Prior experience with one of those BI tools: OBIEE, SAP BW, Cognos, Business Objects, Hyperion, BPM, Tableau, MicroStrategy;

3. Is eager to understand the business and insights behind the numbers; considers him/herself a co-owner of the project/business.

4. Self-starter who can also pro-actively identify challenges/opportunities/solutions;

5. Data science expert with Machine Learning experience;

6. You have strong interpersonal skills including written and oral communication skill. You are fluent in English;

7. Strong analytical skills, a passion for metrics and figures, you have very high attention to details and you like to structure and organize things so that they make sense;

8. Strong bias for action, including the ability to juggle multiple priorities and ability to meet deadlines;

9. Exposure to AWS is desired.
