

Ansible Automation Platform Engineer
Insight Global is seeking an experienced Ansible Automation Platform (AAP) Engineer for a 6 month contract for $80-$130 an hour for a client in New Haven, CT to support enterprise-level automation initiatives. This role focuses on deploying, configuring, establishing best practices and documenting AAP in a production environment, working closely with DevOps and infrastructure teams to streamline automation workflows. The duration of the position is expected to be 3 – 6 months.
Key Responsibilities:
• Deploy and configure AAP in an enterprise AD production environment.
• Develop Ansible Playbooks to automate infrastructure tasks, including:
• Configuration for Linux, Windows, and BSD systems.
• Automated OS deployments, updates, and credential handling.
• Application automation (e.g., MSSQL updates and inventory tracking).
• Network device automation (Cisco, Juniper, Dell, InfiniBand, etc.).
• Integrate AAP with external tools such as Datadog, Keeper, and HashiCorp Vault for monitoring, security, and secrets handling.
• Work with GitHub & Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) principles for repeatability and version control.
• Automate workflows across hypervisors like VMware ESXi and Proxmox.
• Ensure secure connectivity across environments (SSH, WinRM, API-based connections).
• Establish best practices for playbook development, secrets handling (Vault, Keeper), security (RBAC), alerting, and logging.
• Provide documentation and support for internal teams.
Ideal Candidate:
• Hands-on experience with AAP in a production setting.
• Strong skills in Ansible Playbook development and automation with various operating systems.
• Familiarity with networking, operating systems, and virtualization automation.
• Experience with secrets management tools (e.g., Vault, Keeper).
• Understanding of DevOps methodologies and GitHub-based workflows.
• Ability to collaborate with teams and document best practices.
