We are a digital transformation company focused on life sciences, healthcare, and data-driven solutions partnering with clients to modernize data architectures, optimize workflows, and enable advanced analytics.

Role Overview

We are seeking a part-time Data Engineer with expertise in dbt (Data Build Tool) and AWS Glue to support our ongoing data transformation initiatives. This role is ideal for someone looking for long-term contract work while collaborating with a high-performing team in a flexible, remote setting.

Responsibilities

   • Develop and maintain dbt models to transform raw data into analytics-ready datasets.

   • Build and optimize AWS Glue jobs for ETL/ELT processes, ensuring scalable and efficient data pipelines.

   • Work with cross-functional teams (data analysts, scientists, and engineers) to define data transformation requirements.

   • Implement best practices for data modeling, testing, and documentation using dbt and Glue.

   • Monitor data pipelines for performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.

   • Contribute to CI/CD pipelines for automated deployment and testing of data transformations.

   • Maintain data governance and security compliance in alignment with industry regulations.

Required Qualifications

   • 3+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or ETL development.

   • Proficiency in dbt (developing models, macros, testing, documentation).

   • Strong experience with AWS Glue (writing PySpark/Scala scripts, job orchestration, Glue Data Catalog).

   • Expert SQL skills for data modeling and transformations.

   • Familiarity with data lakes, data warehouses (Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery), and cloud-based ETL processes.

   • Experience integrating data pipelines with S3, RDS, or DynamoDB.

   • Knowledge of version control (Git), CI/CD workflows, and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform is a plus).

   • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.

Preferred Qualifications

   • Experience in life sciences, clinical trials, or healthcare data.

   • Exposure to Apache Airflow, AWS Step Functions, or other orchestration tools.

   • Understanding of data privacy (HIPAA, GDPR) and compliance frameworks.

Details

   • Part-time (10-20 hours per week), relatively flexible schedule.

   • Long-term contract with potential for increased hours.
