Sr Data Scientist

Our client, a prestigious Federal contractor, is seeking a hands-on Data Scientist to support a large DHS customer.

The position is primarily remote, but will require occasional attendance onsite at our client's Sterling, VA or Kingstowne, VA offices as needed. Our client is looking to onboard as a 6-month contract to hire.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Collect and analyze large data sets from complex data models including relational databases
• Define acceptance criteria including setting algorithm thresholds based on statistical analysis
• Develop and identify approaches for predictive models
• Define and set standards for performing data analysis
• Interface with clients, project management, stake holders, and development teams
• Consolidate information into reports or UI dashboards
• Bachelor-s degree in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Computational Statistics, or related field. Master-s Degree in a related field is preferred.
• 3+ years of experience in data science techniques - including data analysis, statistical analysis, programming, modeling, machine learning, and deep learning
• Strong programming skills including SQL, python, other related languages, and data mining tools
• Strong background in math and statistics
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to work effectively within a team environment
