Location: Richmond, VA

Position Type: Hybrid, 2 days per week onsite (Tues and Wed required - NO Exceptions!)

Contract Length: 4 months, with extension

Position Overview:

The Power BI/SQL Developers with strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills. This role will be expected to play an active role in the Data Quality Enhancement initiative. The individual is expected to be a self-starter who is comfortable prioritizing and effectively managing their daily workload.

Required Skills:
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in developing reports, dashboards, and data visualizations using Power BI
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in SQL Server SQL development, including writing complex queries, stored procedures, and performance tuning.
• 3 years of experience in writing complex DAX queries.
• 5 years of experience with MS SQL Server data modeling and schema design.
• 3 years of experience working in an Agile development environment.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team that includes business and technical stakeholders.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Skills:
• Experience in Pensions Benefit Management programs
• 2 years of experience with other BI tools (e.g., Tableau, QlikView)
• Knowledge of programming languages such as Python or R.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS).
• Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate or equivalent
• Other relevant certifications in SQL, Data Analysis and database management

Duties:
• Maintain the confidentiality of all business data and adhere to data security policies.
• Meet all deliverables within the agreed upon timeframe.
• Provide regular status updates and attend various meetings as required.
• Develop, design, and maintain Power BI reports and dashboards based on business requirements.
• Create interactive visualizations, reports, dashboards that assist with effective monitoring of Critical Data Elements.
• Advise on best practices in data visualization and report optimization.
• Work closely with business stakeholders to understand their data needs and translate into actionable reports.
• Develop, optimize and maintain SQL queries and stored procedures for data retrieval and manipulation.
• Develop DAX queries to enhance the performance and functionality of reports.
• Develop reports to support KPIs and other performance indicators.
• Provide training and support to end-users on Power BI and SQL tools.
• Review existing SQL Queries, Execution Plans, Partitions, and Index(s) to determine performance enhancements for long running queries.
• Provide alternative options to existing data manipulation techniques. Examples would be converting Excel manipulation activities into solutions that reduce process/cycle time of data preparation.
