

Senior Infrastructure Specialist
Senior Infrastructure Engineer – Jira/Confluence Specialist – UK Wide locations (Hybrid)
Day Rate: Up to £650 per day (Umbrella)
Contract Length: 12 months
A central government department is seeking a Senior Infrastructure Engineer with specialist expertise in Jira and Confluence administration to support a major digital transformation initiative within the Universal Credit programme.
This is a pivotal role within a multi-disciplinary operations team, aimed at rationalising Atlassian installations and delivering business-critical enhancements across Jira and Confluence platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead the design, migration, and administration of Jira and Confluence to a centralised Atlassian environment
• Collaborate closely with teams to co-design effective Jira workflows and schemes
• Support integration efforts with ServiceNow to align with strategic incident management
• Perform system upgrades and communicate impacts to users
• Review and improve security roles and group management
• Drive ongoing performance tuning and system optimisation
• Respond to regular requests for user provisioning, new spaces, and tailored workflows
• Engage with stakeholders to ensure smooth transitions and clear communication
Essential Skills & Experience:
• Expert-level Jira and Confluence administration
• Strong knowledge of Atlassian plugins, particularly ScriptRunner (Groovy scripting)
• Experience migrating complex Jira/Confluence environments, including users and data
• Deep understanding of Jira in support of software, IaaS, and user-centered design practices
• Infrastructure experience and understanding of operational environments
• Proven ability to work at pace in an agile development setting
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and problem-solving abilities
Desirable:
• Experience migrating to Atlassian Cloud
• Atlassian professional certifications
• AWS infrastructure knowledge
• Previous public sector or Universal Credit programme experience
Day Rate: Up to £650 per day (Umbrella)

Location: Any UK-based hub (Hybrid working – currently 40%, increasing to 60%)
