Role description

Role: Senior Data Scientist - GenAI  Location: 100% remote (Nearshore Canada)  Type: Contract  Company name: Sephora  We are seeking a Senior Data Scientist with deep expertise in Large Language Models (LLMs) and Generative AI to join the GenAI team. This role involves end-to-end ownership of AI solution development—from data preparation and model training to deployment and optimization. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive impactful GenAI applications that enhance customer experience and business performance.  Location: 100% Remote (Nearshore – LATAM, Canada, or similar time zones preferred)  Responsibilities: Design, train, fine-tune, and evaluate LLMs for a wide range of business use cases  Collect, clean, and preprocess large-scale textual and structured datasets  Optimize prompts and models for performance, accuracy, and relevance  Collaborate with engineering and product teams to integrate models into production  Communicate insights effectively to technical and non-technical stakeholders  Stay current on the latest advancements in GenAI and NLP  Mentor junior data scientists and contribute to team development  Qualifications: Master’s or Ph.D. in Computer Science, NLP, Machine Learning, or related field (preferred)  8+ years of experience in data science, with a strong focus on NLP and deep learning  Hands-on experience developing and deploying LLM-based solutions in production  Proficiency in Python, PyTorch, TensorFlow, and modern NLP/ML frameworks  Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Azure and Databricks  Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, ThoughtSpot)  Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
