

Oracle Forms/Reports/Database Developer
Job Summary:
The Oracle Forms/Reports/Database Developer will take on senior-level responsibilities in analyzing requirements, developing server and client software, performing unit testing, and creating documentation throughout the software lifecycle. This role requires expertise in secure data management across multiple schemas and servers, troubleshooting legacy applications, and optimizing database design.
The Developer will interpret project requirements, design, implement, and maintain corresponding database components, and support applications built on Oracle Forms, Oracle Reports, and related technologies. The role also involves assisting with migration efforts to alternative technologies, query optimization, and working with databases such as SQL Server and PostgreSQL.
This position demands strong independent problem-solving abilities, project management skills, and collaboration within large teams, ensuring compliance with security best practices, version control, and development standards. The Developer will also provide after-hours application support, database upgrades, maintenance, and emergency support as needed while operating with considerable latitude for independent judgment.
Key Responsibilities:
Application Development & Maintenance:
• Design, develop, and maintain Oracle Forms, Oracle Reports, and related database components.
• Troubleshoot and reverse engineer legacy applications, using available documentation and baseline requirements.
• Support the migration of Oracle Reports to alternative platforms, modifying queries and enhancing functionalities.
• Implement secure data handling solutions across schemas and servers.
• Collaborate with database developers and software engineers to create optimized, high-performance applications.
Database Development & Optimization:
• Design and optimize complex database structures, queries, and indexing strategies.
• Develop and maintain functions, procedures, Web PL/SQL, and other Oracle Database packages.
• Write and execute scripts to migrate objects and data across Oracle, SQL Server, and PostgreSQL databases.
• Perform query tuning and performance optimization to improve system efficiency.
System Support & Migration:
• Provide technical expertise in Oracle Fusion Middleware Product Suite and related tools.
• Assist in migrating solutions to alternative technologies, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
• Deliver after-hours application support, database upgrades, and maintenance as needed.
• Ensure compliance with software development best practices, security protocols, and version control policies.
Technical Leadership & Collaboration:
• Guide and assist teams in Oracle Reports conversions and new feature implementation.
• Provide technical advisement to management and project teams on database design and system improvements.
• Work independently while collaborating within large project teams to ensure smooth development and deployment.
• Document technical procedures, system requirements, and development progress.
Work Environment & Schedule:
• Telecommuting Option: Allowed up to four days per week with manager's approval.
• Onsite Requirement: 1 day onsite (Wednesdays required).
• Local candidates preferred due to onsite requirements. Candidates must reside in Austin, TX, or surrounding cities. No relocation assistance provided.
• Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM CST (Estimated 40 hours per week).
• Services will be provided during normal business hours, with occasional after-hours support for application maintenance and emergency needs.
