Job Description

This role has been appointed to support the Agency with the implementation of the Unity Project, which seeks to align our HR and payroll systems with the Department of Transport (DfT) group. You will need experience of Management Information (MI) systems and reporting data in a variety of formats, as a fundamental part of the role.

Reporting to the senior HR Manager, and with the support of your team and peers, you will lead the data collection for the Unity Project, and will be responsible for extracting and presenting this information accurately. We are seeking an effective communicator, with an attention to detail, who can engage with colleagues and audiences from across your profession. You will need to lead with positivity and assurance as we work to improve our systems and ways of working.

It is important you can adapt in a fast-paced environment, working closely on this project, as well as supporting the HR team with tasks and projects requiring your expertise and skill.

• Leading the data collection for the Unity Project, working with Project Leads across DfT.
• Supporting HR systems implementation, integration and user acceptance testing.
• Aggregating and analysing data from the payroll and HR system.

About You

To do well in this role you will need;
• To be an advanced user of MS Excel, including the use of graphs, formulas and pivot tables.
• MI reporting experience.
• Working with Management Information systems.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to communicate technical specifications to non-technical business users in a clear and effective style.
• Experience of reporting, validating and assuring the quality of data.
• Creating and developing reports.
• Presenting, communicating and disseminating data analysis outputs.

Additional Information

This role is suitable for hybrid working, and therefore a combination of workplace and home-based working can be accommodated subject to business requirements. Hybrid working is a non-contractual arrangement where employees have the flexibility to work remotely combined with a minimum of 60% of their working time a month at either their principal workplace (one of the locations cited in the advert) or, when required for business reasons, visiting stakeholders and colleagues, or carrying out detached duty in another VCA workplace. There may be occasions where you are required to attend above the minimum expectation.

This post is offered on a Fixed Term Appointment (FTA) basis to complete a finite piece of work.

Permanent Civil Servants will be appointed on an inward loan and subject to the terms of the agreed inward loan. You must have your home departments approval to return to them at the end of the loan before you apply. Internal candidates will return to their previous post at the end of the loan period, which will need to be agreed with your line manager in advance.
