Role Description
This is a contract hybrid role for a Head of Data Science at SettleTop located in Boston, MA area. The Head of Data Science will oversee the day-to-day data science operations, including statistical modeling, data analysis, and strategic decision-making. Some remote work is acceptable.
The Head of Data Science will lead and scale our data science function, driving innovation and data-driven decision-making across the organization. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong technical expertise and leadership capabilities to oversee data science initiatives, optimize AI/ML models, and enhance data-driven business strategies.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and execute the company’s data science strategy to drive business value and innovation.
• Lead and mentor a high-performing team of data scientists, machine learning engineers, and analysts.
• Build and optimize predictive models, machine learning algorithms, and AI-driven solutions to improve business processes and customer experiences.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, and business teams to integrate data science solutions into core products and services.
• Ensure best practices in data governance, model interpretability, and ethical AI development.
• Develop scalable data science frameworks and infrastructure to support analytical capabilities.
• Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and advancements in AI/ML to maintain a competitive edge.
• Drive experimentation, A/B testing, and advanced analytics to optimize decision-making.
• Communicate complex data insights and recommendations to non-technical stakeholders and executive leadership.
Qualifications and Experience
• Master’s or PhD in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience in data science, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership or managerial role.
• Proven experience in developing and deploying machine learning models at scale.
• Strong programming skills in Python, R, or similar languages.
• Experience with cloud-based data platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and big data technologies (Spark, Hadoop, etc.).
• Expertise in statistical modeling, deep learning, NLP, and predictive analytics.
• Strong business acumen with the ability to translate data insights into actionable business strategies.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in a fast-paced startup or technology-driven environment.
• Familiarity with MLOps, model monitoring, and continuous integration pipelines.
• Knowledge of regulatory compliance and data privacy laws (GDPR, CMMC, CCPA, etc.).
