Position Summary:The GIS (Geographic Information Systems) Specialist supports the planning, analysis, and management of spatial data to aid in decision-making and reporting. This role involves developing GIS databases, creating maps and visualization products, conducting spatial analysis, and providing technical expertise for planning, environmental, and infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities:

Design, develop, and maintain GIS databases and datasets.

 Conduct spatial analysis to support project planning, environmental studies, and infrastructure development.

 Create high-quality maps, dashboards, and visualizations for internal and external stakeholders.

 Collect, process, and validate geospatial data from a variety of sources, including field surveys, satellite imagery, and public data repositories.

 Collaborate with engineers, planners, and public engagement teams to integrate GIS products into project reports and presentations.

 Prepare technical documentation, including metadata and data maintenance procedures.

 Ensure compliance with data standards, project requirements, and applicable regulatory guidelines.

 Provide technical support and training to project teams on the use of GIS tools and applications.

 Stay updated on emerging GIS technologies and recommend enhancements for system improvements.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Geographic Information Systems, Environmental Science, Urban Planning, or a related field.

 2–5 years of experience working with GIS in a professional setting.

 Proficiency with ESRI ArcGIS Suite (ArcGIS Pro, ArcMap, ArcGIS Online).

 Knowledge of database management systems (e.g., SQL Server, PostgreSQL/PostGIS).

 Experience with geospatial analysis tools and spatial modeling techniques.

 Familiarity with cartographic principles and map design.

 Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

 Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

 Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working with transportation, planning, or environmental projects.

 Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python or ModelBuilder for GIS automation.

 Knowledge of remote sensing and imagery analysis.
