DevOps Engineer Onsite in Manassas, VA

The Undersea Warfare Decision Support System (USW-DSS) enables ASW forces to collaboratively plan and execute missions, featuring applications for environmental analysis, search planning, force management, and tactical decision aids. By enhancing shared situational awareness and tracking metrics, USW-DSS improves mission efficiency and reduces search time to achieve target detection

Responsibilities:

Advanced Systems Engineer on the high-impact USWDSS program, where you’ll be at the forefront of software integration, testing, and automation. You will play a key role in advancing cutting-edge defense technology with your expertise in scripting, virtualization, and networking—particularly with Ansible, Linux, and infrastructure automation.

   • Lead software integration, test automation, and infrastructure deployment in complex system environments using tools like Ansible, Linux, and virtualization technologies.

   • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to troubleshoot and resolve integration challenges related to networking, software compatibility, and virtualization.

   • Plan and execute software integrations throughout the DevOps lifecycle, ensuring seamless deployments and high system reliability.

   • Utilize CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and automated testing to improve deployment efficiency.

   • Integrate software deliveries, validate bug fixes, and conduct regression testing for cross-platform compatibility.

   • Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives to support feature delivery and continuous improvement.

   • Design and maintain high availability and failover solutions using Red Hat tools such as Pacemaker, PCS, and DRBD.

   • Document test procedures and results; manage test artifacts to support traceability and team collaboration.

Qualifications:

   • U.S. Citizenship is required by federal law

   • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related STEM field

   • Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance within a reasonable amount of time

   • 3+ years of relevant experience

   • Familiarity with Red Hat High Availability solutions (Pacemaker, PCS, DRBD)

   • Experience with virtualization platforms, including Red Hat Virtualization and VMware

   • Proficiency in Ansible scripting and automation

   • Solid understanding of systems engineering principles and technical standards

   • Strong Linux systems administration skills

   • Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform and Ansible

   • Basic knowledge of VLAN networking and Bash scripting

   • Familiarity with monitoring tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and Sensu Go

   • Experience with Kubernetes, OpenShift, and KubeVirt
