Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled Data Modeler to join a major financial firm in a long-term contract-to-hire role. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a cloud environment (AWS or Azure) and a strong background in analytical databases and data modeling principles. This is a hybrid role requiring onsite presence 2-3 days per week in Newark, NJ.

Key Responsibilities:
• Design, develop, and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models to support business intelligence and analytics needs.
• Implement and optimize data models in a cloud-based environment (AWS or Azure).
• Work with Redshift and/or RDS to manage and process large-scale analytical databases.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop data mesh architectures and enhance data accessibility across the enterprise.
• Ensure data integrity, governance, and security across all data models and structures.
• Conduct performance tuning and optimize database structures for scalability and efficiency.
• Support data engineering and analytics teams in building efficient data pipelines.

Required Qualifications:
• Proven experience as a Data Modeler in a cloud environment (AWS or Azure).
• Hands-on experience with analytical databases such as Redshift and/or RDS.
• Understanding of data mesh concepts and distributed data architecture principles.
• Strong proficiency in SQL and database optimization techniques.
• Experience in financial services or a highly regulated industry is a plus.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
