Job Description:

Client is seeking a Data Engineer to join our team. This role involves designing, developing, maintaining, and supporting various projects by providing technical expertise in managing, optimizing, and monitoring data retrieval, storage, and distribution. It will be a highly technical position with some functional responsibilities. The role is onsite in Oakland, CA, and requires strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with managers, peers, and customers to achieve successful outcomes in a team environment.

Job Duties

   • Collaborate with business users and system developers to understand, evaluate, and document data requirements.

   • Design, maintain, and manage data pipelines to ensure seamless data flow from source(s) to destination(s).

   • Analyze and organize raw data for processing and utilization.

   • Create dashboards, reports, and visualizations to present organizational data insights.

   • Build data systems and pipelines that handle the extraction, cleansing/normalization/transformation, and loading (ETL) of data from multiple sources.

   • Explore opportunities to improve data quality, reliability, and automation processes.

   • Monitor system performance, develop quality control measures, and identify areas for improvement.

   • Conduct data analysis, interpret findings, and provide actionable recommendations.

   • Design and enhance reporting capabilities as needed.

   • Coordinate with vendors and external data partners for data requests and integration modifications.

   • Serves as a liaison between business users and technical teams to ensure alignment and effective communication.

   • Demonstrate openness to exploring and adopting new and emerging technologies.

Skills

   • 5 years of experience as a data engineer or in a related field.

   • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python and PowerShell.

   • Experience with programming languages such as Java.

   • Advanced hands-on experience with SQL (SQL-Server and MySQL).

   • Experience developing reports and analytic models using tools like Power BI and SSRS.

   • Hands-on experience creating data pipelines with ETL/integration platforms such as SSIS and MuleSoft.

   • Experience with scheduling tools like CA Workload Automation.

   • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and project management tools.

   • Experience with cloud services and/or AI tools.

   • Experience in the healthcare industry is preferred but not required.

Education

Possession of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in MIS, Computer Science, or a closely related field. Nice to have a data engineering certification.
