Databricks and Azure

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Data Architect to join our client's growing data team. This role will be instrumental in designing, building, and maintaining the modern data platform on Azure, leveraging the power of Databricks. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of data architecture principles, extensive experience with Databricks and Azure cloud services, and a passion for data governance and quality.

Responsibilities:
• Design and implement scalable and reliable data solutions on Azure using Databricks, including data lakes, data warehouses, and ETL pipelines.
• Develop and maintain data architecture frameworks, standards, and best practices.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
• Lead the design and development of data ingestion, transformation, and storage processes.
• Optimize data pipelines for performance, scalability, and cost-effectiveness.
• Implement and enforce data governance policies and procedures, ensuring data quality and compliance.
• Work closely with data engineers and other technical teams to deliver high-quality data solutions.
• Evaluate and recommend new technologies and tools to improve our data platform.
• Mentor and guide junior data team members.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in data architecture and cloud computing.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field).
• 7+ years of experience in the data industry, with a focus on data architecture.
• 4+ years of hands-on experience with Databricks and Azure cloud services (Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Blob Storage).
• Strong proficiency in SQL and ETL processes.
• Deep understanding of data warehousing concepts and dimensional modeling.
• Experience with data governance principles and practices.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Desired Qualifications:
• Relevant certifications from Microsoft (Azure Data Engineer Associate, Azure Solutions Architect Expert) or Databricks.
• Experience with other data processing technologies (Spark, Hadoop).
• Knowledge of data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau).
• Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools.
