Job Title: Connect: Direct – Data Transmission Specialist
Location: Remote
Contract
Must-Have Skills (Mandatory):
• These are non-negotiable skills required for the candidate to be considered.
• IBM Sterling Connect:Direct (NDM) – Core technology used for secure, reliable file transfer.
• IBM Sterling File Gateway – Must be able to manage and troubleshoot file routing and protocols.
• Mainframe Batch Processing – Understanding of JCL and job execution on IBM mainframe.
• ChangeMan ZMF – Source code/version control tool for mainframe environments.
Job Responsibilities:
• The candidate will work across mainframe and distributed environments to manage and align production and disaster recovery systems. Responsibilities include:
• Analyze production vs. DR environments and apply necessary updates.
• Install Connect:Direct on Linux, AIX, and Windows DR servers.
• Configure and align DR jobs to match production.
• Research and maintain jobs, scripts, and config settings across platforms.
• Attend and occasionally lead project status calls.
• Apply best practices in application support and system logic.
• Work independently while handling multiple priorities.
Required Qualifications:
• The ideal candidate will possess the following:
• Proven experience with file transfer and data integration technologies.
• Deep knowledge of Connect:Direct file transfer protocols.
• Familiarity with network protocols, firewall settings, and security best practices.
• Proficiency in IBM mainframe (TSO), Linux, and Windows environments.
• Strong prioritization, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• High attention to data integrity and security.
Preferred (Nice-to-Have) Qualifications:
• These are not mandatory but will make the candidate stand out:
• Experience in the banking or financial services domain.
• Deep understanding of mainframe batch jobs.
• Hands-on with Connect:Direct Secure+ and Certificate Management.
• In-depth experience with IBM Sterling File Gateway.
• Prior work with ChangeMan ZMF (if not already a must-have).
