The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Cognos development, SQL scripting, and large-scale implementations while providing technical leadership in configuring, customizing, and integrating case management systems.
Key Responsibilities
Must-Have Qualifications
7-10 years of experience as a Senior Cognos Developer in a public sector or large-scale business environment.
Hands-on experience in writing Cognos reports and SQL queries.
Strong background in large-scale Cognos implementations.
Technical expertise in enhancing, configuring, customizing, and integrating case management systems.
Ability to conduct requirements elicitation, fit-gap analysis, design, and development phases for Cognos implementations.
Experience providing technical recommendations on infrastructure, reporting, and interfaces.
Application Design and Development (50%)
Provide end-to-end solution design, development, and unit testing using Cognos while aligning with business objectives and Ministry-specific goals.
Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business goals and drive successful delivery.
Develop code following SA development standards, architectural governance principles, and design patterns for robust solutions.
Methodology, Testing, and Troubleshooting (30%)
Utilize strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues.
Work within an Agile development environment, ensuring adherence to industry best practices.
Provide user and system documentation as required.
Perform code reviews, unit tests, and defect resolution while maintaining software quality.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including designers, developers, architects, project managers, and QA teams.
Planning, Documentation, and Communication (20%)
Prepare work plans with CYSSC Managers, report on completion status, and manage risks effectively.
Develop technical documentation explaining the system architecture and enhancements.
Conduct knowledge transfer sessions to ensure team members are aligned with ongoing work.
