Cloud Security Migration Specialist Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Security Engineer to lead the migration from Palo Alto Networks' Prisma solution to Microsoft Cloud App Security (MCAS) for our utility client in San Diego. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in cloud security solutions and experience with both platforms to ensure a seamless transition while maintaining or enhancing current security and compliance standards.
Project Description
This critical migration project involves transitioning the existing security infrastructure from Palo Alto Networks' Prisma to Microsoft Cloud App Security (MCAS). You'll work closely with the client's IT and security teams to assess the current environment, design the migration approach, implement the new solution, and provide support through go-live and beyond.
Key Responsibilities Assessment and Planning
• Conduct thorough evaluation of existing Prisma deployment, including configurations, policies, and integrations
• Lead requirements gathering sessions to identify security and compliance needs
• Perform gap analysis between Prisma and MCAS capabilities
Design and Architecture
• Develop comprehensive solution design for MCAS deployment
• Create detailed architecture diagrams and integration plans
• Map existing Prisma policies to equivalent MCAS policies
Configuration and Deployment
• Implement MCAS configurations including data connectors, policies, and alerts
• Integrate MCAS with Microsoft solutions (Azure AD, Microsoft 365) and third-party applications
• Execute data migration from Prisma to MCAS
Testing and Validation
• Lead functional testing to ensure policies and integrations work as expected
• Coordinate performance testing under expected load conditions
• Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
Training and Documentation
• Deliver training sessions for administrators and end-users
• Create comprehensive documentation for the MCAS implementation
• Develop user guides and reference materials
Go-Live and Support
• Manage the transition to MCAS with minimal business disruption
• Provide post-go-live support to address issues and optimize performance
Required Qualifications
• 5+ years of experience in information security engineering
• Demonstrated expertise with Microsoft Cloud App Security (MCAS)
• Experience with Palo Alto Networks' Prisma Cloud solutions
• Strong knowledge of cloud security concepts and best practices
• Experience migrating between security platforms
• Familiarity with utility industry compliance requirements (NERC CIP preferred)
• Excellent documentation and technical communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
• Relevant security certifications (CISSP, CCSP, Microsoft Security certifications)
• Experience with Microsoft 365 security stack including Defender for Cloud Apps
• Knowledge of utility industry security challenges and compliance frameworks
• Scripting and automation skills (PowerShell, Python)
• Project management experience
