Business Data Analyst / Data Engineer
Location : work from home ----- Tysons Corner, VA
Duration : 1 year plus ongoing extensions
Job Description:
We are looking for an experienced and highly skilled Business Data Analyst/Engineer with a strong background in ETL processes, SQL programming, API integration, Project Portfolio Management (PPM), and VBA scripting to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be adept at managing large datasets, optimizing data workflows, and leading projects that have significant business impact.
Key Responsibilities:

ETL Development: Design, implement, and optimize ETL pipelines to extract, transform, and load data from multiple sources into data warehouses or data lakes.
SQL Expertise: Write efficient and scalable SQL queries to extract and manipulate data, as well as create complex reports and dashboards.
API Integration: Work with third-party APIs to pull in data and integrate it into internal systems. Ensure seamless data flow between different platforms and services.
PPM: Lead Project Portfolio Management efforts, ensuring that projects align with business goals, manage risks, and deliver measurable value.
VBA Automation: Automate repetitive tasks in Excel and other MS Office tools using VBA, improving efficiency and reducing manual errors.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., data engineers, analysts, project managers) to drive data-driven decision-making.
Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members.

Qualifications:

Proven experience in ETL processes (using tools like Apache NiFi, Talend, Informatica, or custom scripting).
Strong proficiency in SQL and experience working with relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, MS SQL Server).
Experience with API integration, including RESTful APIs, webhooks, and data transfer protocols.
Hands-on experience with Project Portfolio Management (PPM) practices and tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Jira, or similar).
Advanced knowledge of VBA for automating tasks and building custom solutions in MS Excel or Access.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage large datasets.
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities, with experience working in collaborative, fast-paced environments.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or related field. Certifications in project management or data engineering are a plus.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $75.00 - $90.00 per hour
