

AWS Cloud Engineer (contract)
The Software Engineer – AWS Cloud Technologies will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing cloud-native applications, leveraging AWS services such as OpenSearch, Neptune Graph Database, AWS Glue ETL, and Apache Spark. The ideal candidate has 3+ years of experience in AWS cloud development and strong Python programming skills to build, scale, and maintain data-driven solutions with a focus on search, graph-based analytics, and cloud infrastructure automation.
Key Responsibilities
• Data-Driven Cloud Development:
• Design, develop, and optimize data processing solutions using AWS Glue ETL, Apache Spark, and Python.
• Architect and develop scalable search solutions using OpenSearch / Elasticsearch, focusing on index management and query optimization.
• Implement graph-based analytics using AWS Neptune Graph Database, optimizing queries in Cypher and Gremlin.
• Cloud Infrastructure & API Development:
• Develop and maintain secure REST APIs using AWS API Gateway and AWS Lambda, ensuring best practices in authentication and security.
• Design, deploy, and manage AWS infrastructure, including VPCs, subnets, load balancers, IAM roles/policies, and DNS servers.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning using Terraform Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
• DevOps & Automation:
• Collaborate with DevOps teams to integrate CI/CD pipelines into development workflows.
• Write and manage Bash scripts, CLI commands, and Git version control for automation.
• Implement automated testing frameworks like pytest to ensure code reliability.
• Performance Optimization & Security:
• Optimize search indexing and queries in OpenSearch/Elasticsearch for scalability.
• Manage IAM roles and policies for secure access control across cloud resources.
• Ensure high-performance cloud environments with best practices in security and compliance.
Required Qualifications
• 3+ years of hands-on experience with AWS cloud-based solutions.
• Proficiency in Python with expertise in Apache Spark and AWS Glue ETL.
• Strong OpenSearch/Elasticsearch knowledge, including query optimization and index management.
• Experience developing graph-based applications using AWS Neptune Graph Database (Cypher & Gremlin).
• Proven ability to design, deploy, and secure REST APIs using AWS API Gateway & Lambda.
• Expertise in AWS infrastructure management (IAM roles/policies, VPCs, subnets, load balancers, DNS).
• Familiarity with Terraform for Infrastructure as Code (IaC) deployments.
• Strong Git, Bash scripting, CLI command-line experience.
• Solid understanding of software development methodologies, debugging, and problem-solving.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps automation, and deployment tooling.
• Knowledge of pytest or other automated testing frameworks.
• Strong ability to work in collaborative, team-oriented environments.
• A proactive, solution-focused approach to problem-solving.

The pay range that the employer in good faith reasonably expects to pay for this position is $34.67/hour - $54.18/hour. Our benefits include medical, dental, vision and retirement benefits.
