Application Performance Engineer - Datadog

We are seeking an Application Performance Engineer (Datadog/AWS) for our New York City client. This job will be working directly for the largest digital rights media company in the U.S. With more than a century of experience, the client is a performing rights organization located in the heart of New York City. They work to protect musicians, and artists of all kinds through advocacy and by protecting copyrighted works and royalty distribution. This job is a contract position working hybrid in their New York office. Our client is unable to provide sponsorship/visa transfer. No 3rd parties will be considered.

Job Title: Application Performance Engineer (Datadog/AWS)

Location: New York City (Manhattan), NY (Hybrid)

Responsibilities
• Manage end to end Datadog at an Admin level
• Handle Set-Up and Troubleshooting of APM / Traces and Serverless Monitoring
• Log Management, Infra Management, Synthetics, Database Monitoring, and RUM (Real User Monitoring)
• Creating Customized Dashboards
• Identify performance bottlenecks, identifying anomalous system behavior, and resolving root cause of service issues
• Create and maintain documentation, videos and other content utilized within the observability team, and also as training and guidance for engineering team consumers
• Collaborate with Application teams to understand their requirements for views into metrics, traces and logs, can build standards for how different architectures are monitoring with common tooling, can drive improvements to tools and drive recommendations for changes, and can enable engineering teams to get the most use out of the observability platform tooling that is available.
• Display strong and effective interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of clients and staff

Required Skills & Technologies
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science.
• 3 + years of experience implementing Datadog APM/Infra/Log monitoring solutions as a Datadog Admin or SME.
• 2+ years of experience with AWS DevOps (ECS Fargate, Cloudwatch, Lambdas)
• Strong understanding of Security, Monitoring and Performance aspects of cloud-native platform and application architectures.
• Understanding of performance aspects of various programming languages: Java, .NET, NodeJS, Python
• Responsible for Java Applications’ instrumentation with Datadog, set up health rules and fine tune monitoring in Data Dog.

Compensation: $70- $80 Hourly, W2 Contract
