Job Title: AI/ML Engineer – Cognitive Science Focus

Location: Remote (US-Based)

Job Type: 6-Month Contract (Potential for Extension)

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced AI/ML Engineer with a strong foundation in cognitive science to develop and optimize machine learning models for advanced natural language understanding and human-computer interaction. This role is ideal for someone with expertise in AI-driven cognitive modeling, vLLMs, and GPU/CPU optimization. You will work closely with researchers and engineers to improve the intelligence and responsiveness of chatbot and conversational AI systems.

Key Responsibilities:

β€’ Design, develop, and optimize AI/ML models with a cognitive science perspective, enhancing human-like reasoning and decision-making in AI systems.

β€’ Implement and fine-tune Very Large Language Models (VLLMs) for chatbot applications.

β€’ Optimize inference performance across GPU and CPU environments to improve efficiency.

β€’ Research and apply principles of cognitive science to improve model interpretability, explainability, and robustness.

β€’ Develop and integrate retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) techniques to enhance response accuracy.

β€’ Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including cognitive scientists, software engineers, and UX designers.

β€’ Evaluate and enhance ML models for real-world conversational AI deployment.

Required Qualifications:

β€’ 5+ years of experience in AI/ML development, with a focus on NLP and cognitive modeling.

β€’ Strong background in cognitive science, psychology, neuroscience, or a related field.

β€’ Experience working with large-scale language models, transformers, and deep learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, JAX).

β€’ Expertise in optimizing AI models for GPU and CPU efficiency.

β€’ Strong proficiency in Python and ML libraries such as Hugging Face, LangChain, or OpenAI APIs.

β€’ Experience integrating AI models into production environments with real-time or near-real-time constraints.

β€’ Knowledge of RAG techniques and their application in improving AI responses.

β€’ Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure) for AI/ML workloads.

Preferred Qualifications:

β€’ Prior experience with cognitive architectures, reinforcement learning, or neurosymbolic AI.

β€’ Understanding of human cognition and its application to machine learning.

β€’ Strong research background with publications in AI/ML and cognitive science.

β€’ Experience working in a fast-paced startup or research-driven environment.

Why Join Us?

β€’ Opportunity to work at the intersection of AI/ML and cognitive science.

β€’ Engage in cutting-edge research and development of human-like AI systems.

β€’ 100% remote role with flexible working hours.

β€’ Potential for contract extension based on project success.

If you are passionate about building AI systems that think and respond more like humans, we’d love to hear from you!
