Business Intelligence Developer
Job Purpose:
This position will provide technical expertise and guidance in supporting the Department of Children and Families by developing Power BI dashboards, DAX (Data Analysis Expressions), data mappings, and monitoring complex, high-volume data processes.
Key Responsibilities:
• Data Modeling and Analysis: Design data models and establish relationships in Power BI to enable efficient data retrieval and analysis. Create DAX formulas to calculate and summarize data for visualizations.
• Report and Dashboard Development: Develop interactive, visually appealing reports and dashboards in Power BI that provide actionable insights to stakeholders.
• DAX Formulas and Calculations: Create complex DAX formulas for performing calculations, aggregations, time intelligence, and other data manipulations within Power BI.
• Data Integration: Extract, transform, and load data from various sources such as databases, spreadsheets, cloud services, and APIs into Power BI.
• Performance Optimization: Optimize Power BI reports and DAX calculations to improve performance and ensure fast query response times.
• Data Visualization: Select appropriate visualizations (e.g., charts, tables, maps, KPIs) to represent data effectively and enable rapid insights for users.
• Data Security and Governance: Implement data security measures to ensure that sensitive information is only accessible by authorized users and comply with data governance policies.
• Data Quality and Validation: Ensure the accuracy and integrity of data through validation and cleansing processes during integration.
• Collaboration and Documentation: Work closely with business stakeholders, data analysts, and team members to understand requirements and deliver solutions. Document data models, DAX formulas, and development processes for future reference and knowledge sharing.
• Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution: Identify and resolve issues related to data connections, DAX calculations, and report performance.
• Customer Support: Provide excellent customer support with meticulous attention to quality and work product.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in the following:
• Data modeling, report, and dashboard development in Power BI.
• Creating complex DAX formulas for calculations and data manipulations.
• Data integration from multiple sources into Power BI.
• Optimizing report performance and troubleshooting related issues.
Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
Skills:
• Strong knowledge of Power BI, DAX, and data modeling.
• Proficiency in extracting, transforming, and loading data (ETL processes).
• Experience in data visualization and designing interactive dashboards.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively with business stakeholders.
Desired Qualifications:
• Microsoft Dynamics 365 Certification (Preferred).
• MS Dynamics Power Platform Certifications (Preferred).
