

SQL Developer
Akkodis is seeking a SQL Database Developer for a Contract job with a client in Addison, TX - Hybrd . We’re ideally looking for applicants to have a solid background in the financial services industry.
Rate Range: $65/hour to $68/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.
Position- SQL Database Developer
Location- Addison, TX - Hybrid - (3 days onsite in a week)
Duration 12-18 months
Top 3 Skills:
- Minimum 10 years of experience in database development and administration
- Proficiency in database design, data modeling, and performance optimization.
- Data Security and Protection: implement and manage database security and protection measures, including access control, encryption and authentication.
Education Requirements: Bachelors and/or Masters degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Other Required Skills:
Proven experience with SQL Server, Oracle and MongoDB databases.
Hands-on experience with Python and Shell scripting
Proven experience in data warehouse development and managing large-scale analytical systems.
Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Relevant certification (in SQL Server or OCA/OCP) are a plus.
Familiarity with data security and compliance standards is a plus.
Preferred Skills:
- Data Warehouse Development: Design, implement, and manage a data warehouse to centralize and streamline data for analytical and reporting purposes.
- Data Migration: Plan and execute data migration projects, with a specific emphasis on migrating from SQL Server to MongoDB, ensuring data integrity and minimal disruptions.
- Working knowledge of SQL, T-SQL, PL/SQL, Python and Shell scripting
Scope of Work:
Design, develop, and maintain Oracle, SQL Server and Mongo database and application software components and modules. Work with team members to identify business standards, procedures and requirements of applications development and document them; develop as-is and to-be business process documents and generate required functional and technical specifications. Perform full-cycle research and design solutions to implement complete end-to-end applications; monitor and report on various upgrades, patches and application features that may advance the overall business processes and making suggestions consistent with development trends, and efficiently communicating with project members on execution; review requirements, system designs and plan for both manual and automated testing. Analyze and troubleshoot issues and resolve following priorities in complex, fast-paced environments. Document software design and implementation. Write test code and/or test procedures. Upgrade and develop extensions for existing applications as of when required. Utilize experience in SQL, T-SQL and PL/SQL programming to develop complex database applications.
Day to Day Responsibilities:
Database Design and architecture: Design, develop, and maintain scalable high-performance database systems that support our applications and business operations.
• Data Modeling: Create and optimize database schemas, tables, and indexes for efficient data storage and retrieval.
• Query Optimization: Write and optimize complex SQL queries to ensure optimal database performance and responsiveness.
• ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) Design, develop, and maintain ETL processes including utilizing SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), Python and shell scripts, PL/SQL code to integrate data from various sources into our databases.
• Data Warehouse Development: Design, implement, and manage a data warehouse to centralize and streamline data for analytical and reporting purposes.
• Data Security and Protection: implement and manage database security and protection measures, including access control, encryption and authentication.
• Performance Tuning: Monitor and tune database performance to ensure minimal downtime and maximum efficiency.
• Data Migration: Plan and execute data migration projects, with a specific emphasis on migrating from SQL Server to MongoDB, ensuring data integrity and minimal disruptions.
• Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of database architecture, processes, and procedures.
• Collaboration: Collaborate with software developers and other IT team members to understand data requirements and ensure seamless data access for applications.
• Stay informed: Stay up-to-date with the latest database technologies, trends and best practices with a focus on migration techniques between different RDMBs systems (SQL Server, Oracle and MongoDB)
