

Splunk Consultant (Part-time)
Role Description
This is a 40 hr per week, non-contiguous remote role for a Splunk Consultant supporting a client in the East Coast timezone. Weeks are scheduled 6-8 weeks in advance. The Splunk Consultant will be responsible for day-to-day tasks related to Splunk implementation, configuration, and maintenance. They will work in real-time with client to understand their needs and provide customized Splunk solutions to meet their requirements. The client uses a custom built Splunk application for cybersecurity-related use cases. The engineer will work with the client engineers to develop on the existing Splunk implementation, in the context of health, supportability, and scalability. Improve accuracy, readability, and reliability on a RMF compliance score based on data and telemetry collected from environment. Validate endpoint asset data and develop host profiles.
Responsibilities
Client will provide a week's sprint of tasks to complete. The Splunk Consultant will review the tasks, meet with the client Monday morning to review, discuss and ask any clarifying questions. The Splunk Consultant will sync with the client every morning to discuss progress and any issues. On Thursday, the Splunk Consultant will present and demonstrate on the client's Splunk environment the tasks completed and gather feedback. The Splunk Consultant will complete all tasks and any revisions by Friday to complete the week. The Splunk Consultant will provide a daily status report on tasks completed and compile a final weekly status report.
Qualifications
In-depth knowledge of how to collect, process, and route data into the Splunk platform and ensure data quality and optimize ingestion pipelines for analysis.
Strong foundation in data analysis, proficiency in writing complex Splunk search queries
Experience with data visualization techniques, a thorough understanding of Splunk features and functionalities
Knowledge of NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF) and OMB M-21-31
Splunk Core Consultant Certification is Preferred
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent presentation skills
