We have an exciting new opportunity for a Senior / Lead Databricks Engineer who has demonstrable knowledge and experience of Databricks and Master Data Management concepts, to join our Data Office, supporting the delivery of our Data Strategy.

You will support and drive the evolution of our Single Customer View (SCV), accountable for its design and documentation, in collaboration with our Lead Data Architect, its integrity and delivery of tangible business benefit. You will support projects and programmes requiring its integration into our portals, CRM and our Data Lakehouse etc, working with hybrid teams, on and offshore. You will work closely with our Data Governance and Data Privacy Teams to ensure we understand and apply the appropriate controls to meet our regulatory and compliance requirements and obligations. Our SCV is a critical part of our Data estate and provides business critical services.

Your role is a key part of the Data Office leadership team and requires effective stakeholder management and engagement skills and the ability to build working relationships with business and technical teams.

We are ideally looking for a permanent employee but will also consider fixed term contracts.

We offer Hybrid/flexible working. Our Bournemouth office is a key location for the programme (happy to discuss patterns).

Key Accountabilities
• Senior/lead engineer, driving standards and best practices for Databricks.
• Responsible for our Single Customer View (SCV) thought leadership, design, documentation, build and test, ensuring we meet and exceed business value add.
• Work with business stakeholders to translate business or data requirements into technical data requirements.
• Maintain the integrity of the SCV, enhancing design and build continuously looking for opportunities to improve or add value.
• Plan and coordinate the prioritisation of data requests to meet business needs in the most appropriate and controlled manner.
• Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of technical data standards and provide quality assurance that data products are developed in accordance with the appropriate technical data standards.
• Act as the SME for our SCV supporting our programmes and BAU activities
• Work in collaboration with relevant on and offshore resources, Scrum masters / programme leads, acting as a mentor and sharing best practice.
• Ensuring all data processes and reports are accurately and appropriately documented and that all data governance and quality processes are followed and continuously improved.

Skills & Experience
• Demonstrable experience of Databricks and Azure data platforms
• Proven experience and knowledge of Data Lake/Warehousing, Master Data Management, ETL processes, programming languages and best practice data management and administration.
• Awareness of UK GDPR and associated privacy regulations.
• Can demonstrate the use of tools and processes to ensure data security, quality and accuracy.
• Proven experience of implementing best practice data quality processes.
• Effective communication skills with the ability to talk to a non-technical audience, the managing of expectation, discussing and making recommendations and working with end users on testing/data quality feedback.
• Experience of working in a busy environment whilst always maintaining a high degree of accuracy and meeting tight deadlines.
• Experience of proactively building and maintaining relationships, working with on and offshore teams.
• Quick to learn with the ability to prioritise activities and remain responsive to the needs of the business.
• Proven experience of taking a development lead on work streams within a data centric or technical project.
