Senior Data Engineer
This is your chance to be part of something big.
Here at the NSPCC, we've been protecting children for over 100 years, doing everything we can to prevent abuse and neglect and giving expert support to help children recover.
Our Technology and Data directorate has developed an ambitious data and analytics strategy to transform the NSPCC into a leading data-driven organisation at the forefront of preventing child abuse and neglect through the collective insights of our data.
As part of this strategy, we have established a central data and analytics hub with a dedicated data engineering team. This team is central to how the NSPCC uses data to transform the way it works and to help even more children and young people feel listened to, supported and kept safe.
We're currently recruiting for a full time, fixed term Senior Data Engineer.
We're currently recruiting for 1 full time, fixed term position in our Data Engineering team whilst existing members of staff are seconded to programme delivery. This position will run until the end of April 2026.
You will be responsible for bringing your skills and experience in ETL tooling to life, contributing to the design, development, testing and implementation of our existing data warehouses and cloud based analytics platforms. You will support our automation efforts to improve the way the NSPCC manages its data to support better outcomes for children, young people, their families and our supporters, disseminating this knowledge to other Data Engineers and the wider team.
This role will be home-based, but the post holder will be expected to undertake business travel as and when required.
We're looking for talented people who value putting children first:
To be successful in this role, you will need to be someone who
• Has previous experience as a data engineer – we're looking for someone who can hit the ground running, who is confident in SQL, python (with Spark a real bonus) and has a good knowledge of data warehousing concepts
• Can make the complex simple – we're looking for people who are great communicators, with a passion for data and technology and the ability to critically evaluate and translate what the right solution could be for the problem in front of you.
• Has a good eye for detail - someone who can work methodically under change control conditions and understands how it important it is to get this right for the benefit of children and young people.
Please refer to the job description for a full person specification. We ask all candidates to address and evidence that they meet each of the 9 points in the person specification in their supporting statement (within a total word limit of 10,000 characters).
If you would like any further information about the role, please contact Ben Corcoran (Associated Head of Data Engineering) at Ben.Corcoran@nspcc.org.uk
The NSPCC is committed to equality and diversity and wants to attract a range of talented people. The NSPCC fully supports the rights and opportunities of all staff to seek, obtain and hold employment and to enjoy equal employment opportunities without discrimination.
