Senior Cloud Engineer (DevOps) – 3-Month Contract (Outside IR35)
Hybrid – Canary Wharf (1 day per week onsite)
Are you an experienced Senior Cloud Engineer looking for a high-impact contract role? A fintech company is seeking a skilled DevOps contractor to lead a focused cloud migration project, transitioning a prototype Dockerized React/TypeScript frontend and Python/Flask REST API from on-prem Linux servers to a secure, FCA-compliant Azure Cloud deployment.
This is a 3-month contract where you’ll take ownership of the full migration process, ensuring a scalable, fault-tolerant, and production-ready infrastructure.
What You’ll Be Doing:
• Cloud Infrastructure: Design and implement a secure and scalable Azure environment for a production fintech platform.
• Migration: Lead the transition from on-prem Debian servers to Azure while ensuring security, compliance, and performance.
• Scaling & Resilience: Set up load balancing, failover, database replication, backups, and monitoring to ensure 24/7 reliability.
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Utilize Terraform, Ansible, and Docker to streamline infrastructure deployment and management.
• CI/CD & Automation: Build robust CI/CD pipelines with automated recovery, rollback, and monitoring.
• Azure AD: Migrate the on-prem Domain Controller to Azure Active Directory.
• Documentation & Handover: Clearly document all architecture decisions and provide knowledge transfer to the development team.
What We’re Looking For:
• Azure Cloud Expertise – Strong background in cloud infrastructure design within regulated environments.
• Docker & IaC – Hands-on experience with Docker, Terraform, GitHub Actions, and Azure DevOps.
• Linux Mastery – Strong Debian administration skills with excellent scripting abilities.
• Security & Compliance – Experience securing REST APIs, managing network security, IAM, and Azure monitoring.
• Autonomous Execution – Ability to take ownership of projects with minimal oversight, making practical, efficient decisions.
• Strong Communicator – Comfortable documenting and explaining architecture to developers and stakeholders.
Bonus Skills (Nice to Have):
• Knowledge of Python, React, and TypeScript
• Experience in FinTech, trading technology, or startups
• Familiarity with OpenAI LLM deployments in the cloud
• Relevant cloud, Microsoft, or Linux certifications
