Senior Big Data Engineer (Graph Database Focus)

We are offering a contract employment opportunity for an Application Development Analyst IV (Contractor) in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The selected candidate will be instrumental in the design, coding, testing, implementation, and support of application software that complies with our organization's architectural standards. This role is critical in driving the analysis and design of quality technical solutions that align with business and IT strategies.
Location: Philadelphia, PA (On-site, 4 days per week)
Job Responsibilities
• Lead development efforts to enhance the ROCI digital twin big data platform, which provides insights into device ecosystem via API syndication.
• Extend functional capabilities of the platform through tasks including:
• NEO4J Graph Database enhancements: Building out data models and scaling graph database.
• Big Data ETL Development: Use Databricks and PySpark tools to design, implement, and optimize data pipelines for large datasets.
• AWS Pipeline Automation: Automate workflows to improve scalability and reliability within AWS architecture.
• API Deployment and Management: Ensure API functionality is performant and scalable using Django and Kubernetes.
• Data Engineering: Create efficient, reusable data models and real-time streaming solutions (Lambda functions).
Requirements
Required Education and Experience:
• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field—or equivalent work experience.
• Experience: Minimum of 10 years in programming/systems analysis, with demonstrated proficiency in:
• Systems analysis and design.
• Development, quality assurance, and integration methodologies.
Technical Expertise
• NEO4J (Graph Database): Proficiency as a platform administrator, advanced knowledge of Cypher query language.
• PySpark and Python in Databricks: Strong expertise in big data engineering and ETL development using PySpark, Python, and relevant tools like Pandas and Sedona.
• Cloud Infrastructure: Experience with AWS automation pipelines, ECS, and EKS for deploying and managing applications.
• API Development: Proficiency in Django-based APIs and containerization using Kubernetes.
Preferred Qualifications
• Hands-on experience in prior graph database projects (NEO4J or similar platforms).
• Familiarity with architectural designs on Databricks.
• Proven track record managing large-scale graph database systems (currently at ~1 billion nodes/relationships, aiming to scale by 50%).
