About This Job

This role involves extending the capabilities and data loading capabilities of the EMIS-X Analytics platform. Our main stack Databricks, Starburst Trino, Python, SQL, and more, all hosted in AWS. Expect to spend majority their time working on building robust data pipelines, centralizing data governance and access controls to provide a better experience to our healthcare users.

The role (What you will DO and the IMPACT you will have)

We’re currently looking to recruit a brilliant Senior Big Data Engineer to help us deliver the best products within the healthcare industry.

   • Helping to lead the development of backend data services / infrastructure code

   • Working within an Agile team

   • Experience supporting or operating production systems - building out monitoring, alerting, observability capabilities.

   • Writing reusable and testable code that other can learn from

   • Reviewing the code of other team members

   • Debugging issues with the existing product

   • Helping the team achieve its product delivery goals

   • Collaborate with the wider business to establish common practices

Knowledge, Skills and Experience (What you will KNOW or LEARN)

Skills

These are the skills and experience you’ll need to set yourself up for success in this role, however we’d still love to talk to you even if you don’t tick all of them:

   • 5+ years of experience working in similar software/data/platform roles.

   • Good understanding of software architecture practices.

   • Can lead / mentor people within a small team.

   • Experience building high quality backend software in Python is essential, and knowledge of other modern programming languages is nice to have too.

   • Knowledge of databases & Big Data technologies such as Delta, Iceberg, Databricks, Trino, SQL

   • Working with cloud infrastructure (ideally AWS) would be highly beneficial.

   • Competent with version control methods, and automatic quality tools.

   • Able to understand the requirements of working within healthcare software business.
