Job Description:

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and maintain SAS-based MXG reports for performance analysis and capacity planning.

Analyze SMF logs, NDM transfers, and system performance metrics to ensure optimal operations.

Maintain and optimize database structures supporting MXG reporting.

Monitor and report on 120 LAPRs, identifying trends and performance bottlenecks.

Work with system engineers and DBAs to improve reporting efficiency and data accuracy.

Support SMF Director processing and ensure compliance with data retention policies.

Automate reporting processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.

Troubleshoot performance issues related to NDM, SMF, and MXG.

Document procedures, maintain knowledge base, and train junior team members if needed.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

5+ years of experience in SAS programming, particularly MXG (Merrill’s Extended Gathering).

Strong understanding of SMF (System Management Facility) records and processing.

Experience with NDM (Connect:Direct) data transfer logs and performance tuning.

Familiarity with SMF Director for data extraction and archiving.

Knowledge of logical application partitions (LAPRs) and capacity monitoring.

Experience in database management for MXG reporting.

Strong SQL skills for querying and analyzing large datasets.

Experience in mainframe (z/OS) performance monitoring and optimization.

Ability to troubleshoot system performance issues and recommend improvements.

Excellent problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with CA MICS or other performance management tools.

Knowledge of RACF security and mainframe operations.

Prior experience in financial services, telecom, or large-scale IT environments.
