Power BI Developer
Developers plan, develop, test, and document computer programs, applying knowledge of programming techniques and computer systems. They evaluate user request for new or modified program, such as for financial or human resource management systems, clinical research trial results, statistical study of traffic patterns, or analyzing and developing specifications for bridge design, to determine feasibility, cost and time required, compatibility with current system, and computer capabilities. Developers also consult with user to identify current operating procedures and clarify program objectives. They formulate plans outlining steps required to develop program, using methodologies such as structured analysis and design or object-oriented development.
The projects for this developer include:
The first workstream is a Power BI development cycle to transform existing Insight to Impact dashboards facing to public facing. This work involves:
• Consult users about the existing data sources, functionality, and deployment procedures for database and public facing dashboards
• Identify best solution for public-facing dashboards built from existing dashboards hosted in a secure environment
• Plan, develop, and test a procedure to extract, load, and deploy data between database and Power BI dashboards
• Plan, develop, and test a solution to adapt and deploy Power BI dashboards from secure environment (Insight to Impact dashboards) in public-facing location
• Deploy full solution to production
• Integrate user acceptance testing feedback from team to improve final product
• Develop documentation to enable ongoing maintenance through additional data loads and dashboard updates
The second workstream focuses on the creation of a new EPP map in Power BI based on an existing map in ArcGIS. This work requires:
• Consult users about the existing data sources, functionality, and deployment procedures for existing ArcGIS map
• Develop Power BI map based on requirements
• Integrate user acceptance testing feedback from team to improve final product
• Develop documentation to enable ongoing maintenance
Required Skills
• 8 years of Power BI experience
• 8 years of SAS
• 4 years of Data Gateways
• 4 years of SQL
• 4 years of creating and maintaining documentation
• 2 years of SmartSheets
• 2 years of ArcGIS
Preferred Skills
• 4 years of Relational Database experience
• 2 years of Education Data
• 2 years of State of Texas experience
• 2 years of Ed-Fi Data Standard
