Brief Description
Route Services is a division of Network Rail that provides the Routes with services so they can help Network Rail deliver a better railway for a better Britain.We support the Routes with a myriad of services and supplies they need to maintain and operate the railway To learn more, please click here to watch our video.
This role sits within Supply Chain Operations (SCO) , an area of the business which supplies and delivers the logistics, materials, components, rail and road fleet that enable the maintenance and renewal of the railway.
SCO keeps the materials, machinery and components required by its customers moving – making sure they are on-site when needed so work can go ahead as planned and on schedule. Watch our video Working in Supply Chain Operations
About The Role (External)
An opportunity has arisen for an individual with specific technical expertise predominantly in Power BI, Power Automate, Azure Database, Maximo among others. The team is a small one at the moment but with the ongoing need for accurate data to measure performance it is expected to grow.
Experience in working in a large organisation and managing the various stakeholders from IT to HR is welcome.
You will provide specialist skills to enable the automation of performance reporting in SCO (Supply Chain Operations). Specifically, accurate migration of existing data and translation of business processes.
Key Accountabilities
• Collect business & data requirements for automated systems and embed these into coding or queries in line with the requirements catalogue.
• Establish data migration and/or cleansing requirements so the automated process does not create any discontinuities or ambiguities compared to the manual process.
• Establish governance and access rights for specific applications such that modifications of the automated processes can only be made at the right level in the organisation in line with the Master Data Management Strategy.
• Embed the automation into the overall Master Data strategy in collaboration with the Data Quality Development Manager so there is system consistency.
• Provide backup, training or coaching - as the SME (Subject Matter Expert) - for the stakeholders of the automated process.
• Calculate savings from automation to provide data as additional business justification for automation projects in the context of efficiency.
Essential
Job Skills, Experience and Qualifications
• Extensive knowledge and experience of coding and BI query languages (e.g. Power BI, Tableau, SAP Business Objects, Maximo)
• In-depth knowledge of data migration tools and techniques.
• Knowledge of software development tools.
Desirable
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of the rail industry.
• Knowledge/awareness of large company systems/applications with many stakeholders.

Vacancy type: This role is 12 months secondment/fixed-term contract post with thepotential to extend or become permanent (unless a suitable redeployee is identified).

Location: This position is based in The Quadrant, Milton Keynes.
Hours: up to 35 hours per week with hybrid working as required. Flexible working and job shares can be considered.
Salary range: £35,582 to £40,830 per annum, depending on skills and experience.

Drugs and Alcohol Standard:
All prospective external candidates offered a conditional role will be required to undergo and pass a drugs and alcohol test. Your application will be rescinded if you record a positive test.
