

Information Technology Service Management Consultant
About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled Sr. ServiceNow Software Engineer to join our team for a long-term contract with Optum Serve. This position is fully remote and requires U.S. citizenship. The selected candidate will play a key role in our modernization journey, updating legacy applications to a cloud-native platform that adheres to modern design standards.
Responsibilities:
• Design, code, test, and debug applications and components that align with technical specifications and business requirements.
• Collaborate with lead engineers to develop technical designs and approaches for new product development.
• Work closely with Product Analysts to develop requirements and assist with project estimation.
• Ensure best practices for software development and documentation, meeting requirements and delivering high-quality work under tight schedules.
• Translate business requirements into technical solutions, recommend alternative approaches, and lead engineering efforts to meet aggressive timelines with optimal solutions.
• Build, deploy, monitor, and operate production services to ensure operational excellence.
• Mentor and guide other software engineers.
• Lead engineering efforts for the feature team.
Required Qualifications:
• 5+ years of experience in full lifecycle software development projects in an agile environment.
• Recent hands-on technical expertise in ServiceNow, specifically in:
• Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) and Security Operations (SecOps).
• IT Operations Management (ITOM), including CMDB, Discovery, Service Mapping, and Event Management.
• Custom application development within ServiceNow.
• Automated Test Framework (ATF).
• Flow Designer.
• Experience leading a ServiceNow development project.
• Strong mentoring skills to support and guide other software engineers.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related field. Alternatively, 7+ years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
• ServiceNow Application Developer Certification.
• Completion of ServiceNow Administration Fundamentals (SNAF).
• Basic understanding of cloud infrastructure, automated provisioning, and configuration management.
• Familiarity with networking and internet protocols.
• Hands-on expertise in additional ServiceNow areas:
• Customer Service Management (CSM).
• IT Service Management (ITSM).
