Position: Data Visualization Developer with Tableau and Python
Location: 150 Broadway Menands, NY 12204
Project: Enhance Crisis Response and Coordination Systems used in NYS to support crisis coordination, referrals, clinical information sharing, and monitoring
Responsibilities
• Dashboard & Report Development: Design, develop, and maintain interactive dashboards and reports using Tableau and Python
• Requirement Analysis: Work closely with business analysts, data engineers, and data scientists to gather and understand business requirements.
• Data Visualization: Translate complex datasets into clear and visually appealing dashboards that provide actionable insights.
• Data Integration: Connect Tableau to various data sources, ensuring accurate and efficient data retrieval.
• Optimization & Performance Tuning: Optimize dashboards for performance, ensuring they load quickly and handle large datasets efficiently.
• User Training & Support: Provide training and support to end-users to ensure they can effectively interact with Tableau reports.
• Data Governance & Security: Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and security by following best practices in data governance like HIPAA
• Experience with Oracle Database connectivity, including:
Analyze and writing optimized SQL queries and PL/SQL for Oracle databases, Using Oracle ODBC connectors in Tableau, Handling performance tuning for large datasets in Oracle
• Collaboration & Communication: Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to deliver data solutions that align with business goals.
• Automation & Scheduling: Implement automated report refreshes and scheduling to keep data up to date.
• Troubleshooting & Maintenance: Identify and resolve issues related to Tableau reports, Python code and dashboards.
Minimum Qualifications
• 7+ years of proven experience in developing, designing, and maintaining Tableau dashboards and analytics solutions.
• Expertise in Tableau Desktop, Tableau Server, and Tableau Prep for data visualization and transformation.
• Ability to query, analyze, and display large datasets while optimizing workbook performance using best practices (e.g., extracts, indexing, data blending).
• Strong understanding of Tableau architecture, including publishing, security, and scheduling on Tableau Server or Tableau Online.
• Advanced Tableau development skills, including: LOD (Level of Detail) expressions, Table calculations, Parameter-driven dashboards, Complex data blending and joins.
• Strong SQL skills for querying, transforming, and optimizing relational databases.
• Hand-on experience with relational database management systems preferably Oracle, PL/SQL, data modeling, and normalization.
• Understanding of advanced calculations and statistical functions for data analysis.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to translate complex business requirements into technical specifications.
• Excellent communication skills to work with stakeholders, present insights, and document development processes.
• Python programming experience for:
• - Data manipulation and automation (using Pandas, NumPy)
• - Integration with Tableau using TabPy (Tableau Python Integration) for advanced analytics
• - Implementing predictive models and statistical analysis
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy to ensure data integrity and reliable reporting.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field.
