Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and mission-driven Data Scientist to join our team as a volunteer. The Data Scientist will play a crucial role in analyzing, interpreting, and leveraging data to enhance CSA’s decision-making, improve service delivery, and optimize resource allocation. This position will support data-driven insights that help vulnerable communities access the right resources at the right time.
Key Responsibilities
Data Collection & Management
Collect, clean, and preprocess structured and unstructured data from various sources.
Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and security in compliance with privacy regulations.
Organize large datasets to enable seamless analysis and reporting.
Data Analysis & Insights Generation
Conduct statistical analysis and machine learning techniques to extract actionable insights.
Identify patterns, trends, and correlations that inform program strategies and community impact.
Develop predictive models to improve decision-making and resource allocation.
Data Visualization & Reporting
Create dashboards and visual reports to communicate findings effectively to stakeholders.
Use tools like Tableau, Power BI, or Python visualization libraries (Matplotlib, Seaborn) to present insights.
Translate complex data into easy-to-understand narratives for leadership, donors, and policymakers.
AI & Machine Learning Integration
Develop and implement AI-driven solutions to improve service recommendations.
Apply natural language processing (NLP) techniques to analyze user interactions and feedback.
Optimize machine learning models to enhance platform efficiency and impact measurement.
Collaboration & Cross-Functional Support
Work closely with software developers, AI/ML engineers, and product managers to integrate data-driven solutions.
Partner with fundraising teams to provide insights for donor engagement and impact storytelling.
Collaborate with program managers to measure and improve service effectiveness.
Data Ethics & Compliance
Ensure all data practices comply with ethical standards and regulations, including HIPAA and GDPR.
Implement strategies to reduce bias in data analysis and AI models.
Promote responsible data usage and transparency in decision-making.
Qualifications
Proven experience in data science, analytics, or machine learning.
Proficiency in Python, R, SQL, and data visualization tools.
Strong understanding of statistical methods, predictive modeling, and AI techniques.
Experience with cloud-based data platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure).
Ability to translate complex data insights into actionable recommendations.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
Passion for using data to drive social impact and improve community services.
