

Data Quality Manager
Overview of Main Duties and Responsibilities 1. Information / Data Quality Management To ensure and/or oversee accurate data extractions according to the set timetable. To interrogate and manipulate large and complex data extracts in order to identify the root causes for any data anomalies or gaps, ie. user error, reporting error, etc. To proactively identify any key gaps in the data capture systems that clinicians and managers are provided with and then work with the Information Team to scope, specify and build new system extracts to better meet service information and business intelligence needs. To undertake complex ad-hoc data quality activities in areas defined by the Divisional Head of Business Management. This will involve managing potentially contradictory and complex wdata to ascertain a credible, easily understandable position on data quality and its impact. The post holder will be expected to present this information to internal audiences as necessary. To aggregate information from multiple sources and across service areas. To review guidance and identify ad hoc queries that may support the services financial or performance position linked to data quality such as unoutcomed activity, missing activity, etc. To observe utmost rigour in the protection of patient-identifiable data, including continual improvement of filing practices and security techniques. Ensuring that all reports produced meet specified validation and quality control requirements before they are published. Ensuring that new reporting protocols, procedures and timetables are documented and existing protocols, procedures, timetables updated as appropriate to ensure business continuity. Resolving in a helpful manner any routine queries in relation to the reports developed and escalating any system-related issues. Take appropriate action to resolve any anomalies found within extracted data or reports seeking support where appropriate. 2. Planning and Organisation Develop and operate a data quality cycle that supports remedial actions that ensure data is cleansed and accurate prior to reporting cycles commencing Triangulate all activities with performance teams to ensure work activities are appropriate timed around the business calendar Ensure that data quality processes and procedures are in place to support team to deliver the required internal and external performance outcomes / target Managements systems are in place to tackle performance exceptions before they become a threat to delivery of performance targets. Manage ad hoc data quality improvement projects either through project management or QI methodology 3. Communication To produce monthly data quality reports to the required timetable ensuring internal and external deadlines are met. To present complex or contentious information to clinical and managerial colleagues where remedial corrective actions are required To communicate clearly and concisely ensuring all materials are tailored to the audience To collate and present routine data quality monitoring information in a timely and accurate manner to agreed formats and timescales ensuring that clear interpretation has been made to assist service leads. To distribute internal data quality reports with clear purpose and actions To ensure data utilized in performance reports is robust in terms of validity and quality. To support and contribute to the completion of monthly and quarterly monitoring reports. To contribute to the preparation and delivery of presentations which are clear and appropriate to the purpose and the audience. 4. Human Resources To oversee the work of data administrators, providing support and training as appropriate for all locally managed datasets, particularly those managed on systems outside of the Trusts main EPR To provide specialist training to administrative and clinical staff in the correct use of EPRs in within the Division or other IT systems to ensure accurate data capture, either as part of induction processes or to support staff development To ensure any areas of development for staff are brought to the attention of line managers to ensure ongoing high quality data To ensure personal training needs are met. Attend and play an active part in the monthly team meeting and other internal meetings as required by the Borough. 5. Policy and Service Development To support the development of data collection systems for new services or initiatives To ensure that Data Quality Principles are in place and implemented across the Division 6. Working Conditions There is a frequent requirement for sitting or standing in a restricted position for a substantial proportion of the working time There is a frequent requirement for prolonged concentration when working with large and complex datasets There may be occasional indirect exposure to distressing or emotional circumstances through incidental contact with patients or when visiting prison services within the Division. There is a requirement to use Visual Display Unit equipment more or less continuously on most days.
