About This Role

As a Data Engineer at Carrier, you will play a critical role in architecting, building, and optimizing the data pipelines and infrastructure that power business intelligence, analytics, and AI/ML initiatives. You will work across real-time and batch data use cases using a modern, cloud-native tech stack, and help shape best practices for data engineering within a product-oriented organization. This role is ideal for a data engineer who thrives on solving complex problems at scale and mentoring others to do the same.

Key Responsibilities

   • Design and implement robust, reusable, and scalable data pipelines and transformations using AWS Glue, Kinesis, and orchestration tools like Airflow and Nexla.

   • Contribute to the evolution of our transactional data lake architecture based on Apache Iceberg and Amazon S3, enabling schema evolution, ACID transactions, and time travel.

   • Partner closely with data product teams, architects, and platform engineers to deliver curated, governed datasets that accelerate insights and machine learning outcomes.

   • Champion DataOps and DevOps principles by implementing CI/CD workflows, observability, and automated testing for pipelines.

   • Act as a subject matter expert for data modeling, schema design, and data quality assurance across diverse business domains.

   • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the development of internal standards, frameworks, and best practices for data engineering.

Required Qualifications

   • 5+ years of professional experience in data engineering,

   • 3+ years of experience with leadership on complex pipeline and data platform initiatives.

   • 5+ years of experience programing in Python, SQL, and with modern ELT/ETL frameworks.

   • 3+ years of experience with AWS data services (Glue, S3, Kinesis, Athena, Redshift) and open table formats like Apache Iceberg.

   • High School Diploma / GED.

Preferred Qualifications

   • Experience building and optimizing streaming and batch pipelines in production environments.

   • Familiarity with metadata management, schema evolution, and integration with enterprise data governance frameworks.

   • Proven success working cross-functionally with platform, analytics, and AI/ML teams in a fast-paced environment.

   • Experience with tools like Snowflake, Trino, Databricks, or dbt.

   • Familiarity with data lakehouse architectures and cloud cost optimization strategies.

   • Exposure to data contracts, data mesh, or domain-oriented data product delivery.

   • Certifications in AWS (e.g., Data Analytics, Solutions Architect) are a plus.
