Contract Data Engineer – Financial Services (Hybrid, Sheffield) – 6-Month Contract

Location: Hybrid – 2 days per week in Sheffield

Contract: 6-Month Initial Contract (via Umbrella)

Are you an experienced Data Engineer looking for your next contract role? We are seeking a skilled professional to join a leading financial services client, working on cutting-edge data solutions in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities:
• Design, develop, and maintain data management solutions, including data modeling, ETL processes, and data pipelines.
• Implement data quality checks and monitoring processes to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
• Design and build scalable data infrastructure.
• Develop reports, dashboards, and visualizations to deliver business insights.
• Identify and resolve technical issues, including data anomalies, performance bottlenecks, and quality problems.
• Lead technical governance initiatives, such as documentation, data lineage, and access controls.
• Contribute to architecture discussions and drive best practices.
• Evaluate and recommend new technologies to enhance data processing efficiency.
• Work collaboratively with a global team across various disciplines.

Key Skills & Experience:
• Cloud computing experience (Google Cloud Platform preferred).
• Strong SQL skills and proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Python).
• Experience with Apache Flink for data processing.
• Proficiency in Apache Airflow for workflow management.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to problem-solve and proactively resolve technical challenges.
• Experience working in Agile development environments.
• A positive, proactive, and collaborative approach to work.

Hybrid Working Requirements:
• Sheffield office attendance is mandatory: 2 days per week or 8 days per month.
