Health Data Analyst/Health Informatics Specialist
The Skokomish Indian Tribe's Health Department is seeking a well-qualified and experienced Health Data Analyst or Health Informatics Specialist who will enable the provision of high-quality healthcare in an efficient and effective manner.
This is an Independent Contractor position and does not provide any benefits or other considerations. The successful applicant will be required to enter into a Skokomish Goods and Services contract with the Health Department.
This position requires some on-site work on the Reservation near Shelton, WA.
This is a short-term contract anticipated to last five to nine months depending on scheduling. $75.00 Hourly.

Role and Responsibilities
This position is responsible for: collecting and analyzing data, identifying available resources and gaps, providing data as needed for making programming and other decisions, noting areas of improvement needed and similar tasks. The Contractor will work within our Electronic Health Record (EHR) as well as other data collection systems and repositories.
A keen understanding of the laws and regulations that apply to health-related and similar data, such as the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act is essential in this position.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Health Informatics (highly preferred) or a similar technology field.
- Two years or more experience serving as a Data Analyst or Health Informatics Specialist.
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
- Comprehensive understanding of medical terminology
- Knowledge of regulatory oversight.
- Understanding and experience working in an EHR.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to solve problems in an efficient and effective manner.
- The ability to work with and be part of a dynamic team.
- Available for a minimum of 30 hours per week.
- Available to work on-site on the Skokomish Indian Reservation as required.
- Pass a background check.
The following is highly preferred:
- Experience working in healthcare and/or a healthcare setting.
- Understanding of Indian Health Services regulations and healthcare provision.
- Experience working for/with an Indian Tribe.
- Experience working with a rural healthcare department or practice.
