Job Summary

Abbott is seeking a CMDB Administrator/ Data Analyst I to support Configuration Management Database (CMDB) administration. The CMDB serves as the inventory for all infrastructure-related assets, including facilities. The ideal candidate will be responsible for processing and managing data updates, ensuring data accuracy, and effectively communicating with various business units and requesters. This role requires strong attention to detail, independent problem-solving skills, and excellent communication abilities to ensure accurate data management and support IT initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

CMDB Administration & Support (100%)

   • Develop an understanding of CMDB data structures and how they are utilized across different business units.

   • Serve as a primary point of contact for CMDB-related inquiries, ensuring all data updates are accurate and aligned with best practices.

   • Interact with business units, requesters, and Data Stewards to clarify data requirements and resolve discrepancies.

   • Provide guidance and consultation to requesters to ensure proper data submission and adherence to standards.

   • Work closely with Application Portfolio teams to support Application Health and IT lifecycle management, identifying gaps and recommending remediation steps.

CMDB Data Updates & Maintenance

   • Process data updates for infrastructure-related assets, handling requests ranging from a single item to 500+ devices per request.

   • Ensure data accuracy through careful review and validation of requests.

   • Perform updates via Incidents or Service Requests within ServiceNow.

   • Analyze audit reports and CMDB Health Dashboards, reaching out to requesters and business units for data remediation.

   • Manage Application-to-Infrastructure relationships, including updates and removals.

   • Execute mass data imports while ensuring consistency and integrity.

   • Note: This role is the only authorized user permitted to perform mass data imports into the CMDB.

CMDB Data Integration & External Data Sources

   • Gain an understanding of external data sources feeding into the CMDB and how they impact system accuracy.

   • Provide clear, plain-language explanations to business customers regarding data sourcing and integration processes.

ServiceNow Discovery & Configuration Support

   • Assist with the configuration and management of ServiceNow Discovery schedules to enhance CMDB data accuracy.

Qualifications & Skills

   • Education: High School Diploma required.

   • Experience: 3 to 6 years of relevant experience.

   • Technical Skills:

   • Data accuracy is critical—must have a keen eye for detail.

   • Ability to work independently and proactively address data discrepancies.

   • Strong communication skills to interact effectively with requesters and business units.

   • Comfortable engaging with new stakeholders to gather and validate information.

   • Ability to provide guidance and consultation to requesters to ensure proper data handling.

   • Experience with ServiceNow (preferred but not required).
