Role description

Job Title: BESS Analytics Engineer

Job Description

Work on one of the world’s largest Battery Energy Storage System Developers as a Commissioning Manager-Analytics. The primary roles involve conducting plant testing, performance testing, GIA/PPA Testing, and startup of Battery Energy Storage System and Solar Coupled Power systems. You will act as the Owner’s representative overseeing aspects of the energy storage system including compliance, status reporting, safety, startup, commissioning, and testing. Employees in this role manage and report on commissioning and performance testing work performed by contractors and/or vendors at the project site.

Responsibilities

   • Participate in safety programs and audits

   • Support PPA Testing with Customer

   • Support GIA Testing with Transmission Operator (TO)

   • Support various testing procedures

   • Manage test energy forecast with the customer

   • Support ICCP IT SCADA Team and SCADA PM/Lead with functional checks

   • Work with SCADA Integrator and Execution Commissioning Project Manager to develop a Commissioning schedule based on mechanical completion

   • Work with SCADA Integrator and Commissioning Manager to execute site acceptance testing

   • Support CEWIS Critical Point Checkout with ROCC alarm checks/PGD

   • Perform OEM Testing

   • Perform Plant Balancing

   • Perform Capacity Testing

   • Perform notification of AVR/AGC and support

   • Review performance data for deficiencies

Essential Skills

   • Battery Energy Storage Systems installation and startup

   • Thorough understanding of technical, performance, and integration of batteries as part of ESS

   • Commissioning process creation

   • Understanding of containerized systems, skids, controllers/SCADA, transformers, combiners

   • Thorough understanding of DC systems (0-2,000Vdc) and AC systems (480V-34.5kV)

   • Experience with control and SCADA systems and troubleshooting

   • Organizational skills

   • Computer skills including MS Word, Excel, and MS PowerPoint

   • Effective communication to third parties and executives

   • Ability to effectively organize and strategize schedules and plans

Additional Skills & Qualifications

   • Engineering or professional electrical career in power systems construction and startup with a minimum of 100MW-hr or 5 EA energy storage systems and commissioning

   • Experience with BESS is required

   • Experience with SCADA is preferred

Work Environment

The position involves occasional travel within the United States to project locations for testing purposes, with an estimated travel frequency of up to 25%. The remaining work is primarily remote, focused on providing support through SCADA monitoring. The work environment includes a corporate setting when in the office and a remote setup when working from home. The role also involves prolonged periods of screen time and sitting.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $65.00/hr.
