API Developer
Role Title: API Developer
Duration: contract to run until 30/06/2025
Location: Remote
Rate: up to £460 p/d Umbrella inside IR35
Clearance required: Active MOD SC - DVed / DV willingness better and you must be a sole UK Passport holder with NO Dual nationality
Key Skills/ requirements
• Design, develop, and maintain high-quality APIs.
• Collaborate with Architect, Data Engineers, DevSecOps, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver API solutions that meet business needs.
• Ensure APIs are well-documented, scalable, and maintainable.
• Implement and manage API security and authentication protocols.
• Monitor and optimize API performance to ensure high availability and reliability.
• Debug and resolve issues related to APIs and integration points.
• Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in API development and integration.
• Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and adherence to standards.
• Work closely with DevOps teams to automate deployment and monitoring processes.
Key Technical Skills:
• Ability to develop API services, principally (but not limited to) HTTP REST.
• Ability to define API specifications including OpenAPI.
• Ability to develop APIs against NFRs such performance, reliability etc.
• Ability to integrate services with other software components such as data stores, third party software etc.
• Experience of securing APIs using methods such as Oauth2.0, JWTs etc.
• Experience of working within an Agile delivery methodology.
• Ability to program in one or more languages (likely to be python, JavaScript, Go, maybe Java)
• Experience with producing automated unit tests alongside developed code.
• Experience of developing containerized solutions.
• Experience of working with API management platforms.
