Role description

We’re looking for a skilled and motivated AI Engineer for an initial contract role with strong potential to convert to full-time to help us improve the core intelligence of our products. If you’re passionate about leveraging the latest LLMs for high-accuracy data extraction, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and love seeing your work directly impact users — this is for you.

About Us

We create AI-driven solutions to help consumers and real estate professionals make faster, better decisions. Our first product, HOA Hero, summarizes and explains HOA documents for buyers and agents. Our reports highlight risks, fees, rules, and red flags in minutes — saving agents hours and helping buyers feel confident. Agents love HOA Hero - you'll help us make it even smarter.

What You'll Do

   • Design, build, and refine AI workflows using LLMs / multi-modal models for our document intelligence platform.

   • Develop and implement systems to accurately classify various user-uploaded real estate documents.

   • Optimize document routing and processing logic using appropriate LLM APIs and techniques.

   • Utilize latest in prompt engineering techniques to achieve extremely high accuracy in extracting key information from complex documents.

   • Implement validation rules and post-processing steps to ensure the highest possible data quality.

   • Develop and manage human-in-the-loop processes (flagging) for scenarios requiring review.

   • Manage vector storage and RAG systems for efficient information retrieval.

   • Stay current with new model releases and manage the adaptation or migration of workflows to leverage performance improvements.

   • Collaborate directly with the founding team and CTO — your insights will directly shape our AI capabilities.

What We're Looking For (Successful Candidates):

   • Have proven experience building real-world applications or significant features leveraging LLMs and multi-modal models (images)

   • Possess deep, hands-on expertise in prompt engineering, particularly for complex data extraction where precision is critical.

   • Demonstrate experience adapting AI workflows to new model releases and managing migrations.

   • Have practical experience implementing and managing vector databases and RAG pipelines.

   • Communicate clearly and collaborate effectively within a small team environment.

Bonus Points

   • Familiarity with the real estate domain or document processing challenges.

   • Experience working in a startup environment.

Why Join Kirby Companies

   • Contract-to-Hire Opportunity: Initial contract role with strong potential to convert to a full-time position based on performance and business needs.

   • Real traction with real estate agents — early product-market fit.

   • Direct line to the founder and CTO (your voice matters here).

   • Remote flexibility and performance-based upside.

   • Fast-growing product with viral growth built in.

   • Deeply experienced founding team.

   • Opportunity to specialize and become a core expert in applied AI for our domain, working alongside strong technical leadership handling broader infrastructure.
