Job Description
Oland Technologies is seeking an expert Tableau Consultant with 10+ years of relevant experience to join our team as an independent contractor (1099). This flexible, engagement-based position offers the opportunity to work remotely on a variety of client projects, leveraging your Tableau expertise to deliver actionable insights and drive data-driven decision-making. U.S. citizenship is required. Active DHS or CBP suitability is highly preferred.
The Principal Tableau Consultant is a remote contract (1099) position.
Required Skills:
· Tableau Expertise: Expert-level Tableau proficiency, including:
o Advanced Calculations: Complex calculations using Level of Detail (LOD) expressions, table calculations, and parameters.
o Performance Optimization: Optimizing Tableau workbook and dashboard performance to minimize load times, improve responsiveness, and enhance user experience.
o Data Preparation: Tableau Prep Builder for cleaning, transforming, and shaping data, including filtering, joining, aggregating, and pivoting.
o Order of Operations: Deep understanding of Tableau's Order of Operations and the use of context filters to control the level at which calculations are performed.
o Data Source Creation: Creating Live and Extract Tableau data sources, including use of relationships, joins, unions, and data blending.
o Advanced Spatial Analysis: Developing geospatial visualizations using spatial functions, spatial joins, shapefiles, and map layers.
o Dashboard Design: Designing clear, intuitive, and visually compelling Tableau dashboards using visualization best practices.
o Data Storytelling: Exceptional ability to translate complex data into compelling visual narratives that drive decision-making and resonate with stakeholders at all levels.
o Leadership: ability to work with ambiguous and changing requirements to get stakeholders what they want and need even if they are not able to articulate it clearly.
o Presentation Skills: Delivering compelling presentations to senior officials, policymakers, and operational teams, highlighting key findings and data-driven recommendations.
Additional Desired Experience:
Experience in Qlik or Power BI is a bonus
· Scripting Languages: Experience with Python or R for data science, statistical analysis, automation, and integration with Tableau (TabPy, Rserve, custom extensions).
· Modeling & Simulation: Experience with modeling and simulation tools to build and analyze simulations, interpret simulation results, and understand how changes in model parameters affect the output.
· Graph Theory & Network Analysis: Familiarity with graph algorithms, network analysis tools, and concepts for visualizing and analyzing relationships within complex datasets.
· Domain Knowledge: Familiarity with data and challenges in one or more of the following areas: border protection, immigration enforcement, transportation security, maritime law enforcement, emergency management, homeland security.
· Data Storytelling: Exceptional ability to translate complex data into compelling visual narratives that drive decision-making and resonate with stakeholders at all levels.
· Leadership: ability to work with ambiguous and changing requirements to get stakeholders what they want and need even if they are not able to articulate it clearly.
· Presentation Skills: Delivering compelling presentations to senior officials, policymakers, andoperational teams, highlighting key findings and data-driven recommendations
Education and Experience:
· Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
· 12+ years of professional experience in data analysis, business intelligence, operations research, decision science, or a related field.
Desired Certifications:
· Tableau Certified Associate, Tableau Certified Data Analyst, Tableau Certified Professional, or Tableau Certified Consultant preferred.
Eligibility:
· U.S. Citizenship required. Must be able to obtain and maintain DHS Suitability.
Active suitability preferred.
Salary:
· Salary depends on experience in this field.
