The main purpose of this role is to enhance the analysis and investment decision-making of SJP Investment Teams through data-driven insights, and the application of applied science techniques. This serves our pursuit of investment excellence, by ultimately improving the investment outcomes for clients.

You will lead on development projects for the Investment Insights & Reporting Team. You will independently problem solve, profiling our investment-focused customers to plan solutions to their business problems. Deliver innovative and practical data-led solutions, using a range of data science-related tools and techniques.

What you’ll be doing:

• Quantitative Analysis & Predictive Analytics: Leading on the implementation of new statistical models & validating the results. Building a deep understanding of the uses, and misuses, of statistical inferences.

• Regular Reporting: Overseeing the regular reporting production and development within the team.

• Team Development & Training: Leading junior members of the team, including training and mentoring and collaborating with a wide range of other teams to develop professional relationships. This will cover front-office investment teams, as well as Data-Tech teams, their senior and junior data analysts and data engineers, both onshore and offshore.

• Delivering Projects: Delivering on critical development and BAU projects, covering investments, operations, regulation and risk. In larger project groups, you will identify opportunities and points weaknesses – and directly influence the decisions made on areas involving quantitative analytics.

• Explorative Database Construction: Outside of core divisional data sources, the team must have the ability to proof-of-concept new, alternative data sources. This covers the full analytics cycle - ETL, analytics model coding, viz/UX build, ‘data-code-model’ validation testing. Acquisition of new datasets and analytics tools will often be required, building business cases, requirements, proof-of-concept & impact assessments for these capabilities.

• Senior Boards MI Reporting & Stakeholder Engagement: Providing reporting solutions to senior customers and investment teams, including board-level reporting and quantitative dashboards.

• Building Visualisations: Ensuring that stakeholders and customers can absorb and act on the reports and analytics produced, including working on visualisation designs.

• Data QC Testing & Error Resolution Workflows: Developing and leading an accumulating library of quality control and error resolution pathways, ensuring that the information provided can be trusted and makes valuable contributions to our investment decision making.

Who we’re looking for:

A candidate with experience and technical expertise in investment-related data insights, including:

• Understanding of investment markets, asset classes and investment styles.

• Knowledge of public & private asset classes and investment products.

• Experience of investment-related analytics platforms; e.g. Aladdin, Financial Express, Bloomberg, FactSet, MSCI RiskMetrics etc.

• Experience with coding languages - such as SQL, Python, VBA.

• Understanding of reporting tools - such as Excel and PowerBI.

• Confidence and ability to communicate in a technical manner

• Investment-related further education or professional qualifications
