Job Description:
Our client is a leader in the Insurance Space & they are seeking a talented Senior Data Engineer (6 month contract to hire), to join our team and work on data and analytics projects supporting our Underwriting team. The role is part of the Information Management group, which provides technology support for Data Engineering, Analytics, and Reporting across multiple business areas, including Commercial Lines, Personal Lines, and Excess Surplus. This position requires hands-on expertise, strong technical skills, and a proven track record of successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and support new or existing data applications.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders and analysts to understand data processes and recommend best practices or long-term solutions.
• Work with Application and Enterprise Architects to review and implement data flow designs.
• Provide technical guidance for the implementation of complex data solutions.
• Design, develop, review, test, deploy, and document data engineering and integration applications.
• Maintain detailed documentation for downstream integrations.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues.
• Perform Scrum Master activities and ensure team alignment with Agile practices.
• Identify and explore emerging technology trends for potential organizational use.
Qualifications:
• Experience: 5–7 years in Data Warehousing, Data Integration, or Data Engineering.
• Technical Expertise:
• Azure Databricks, Informatica PowerCenter, IICS, Cognos, Netezza Performance Servers.
• Proficiency in SQL and scripting languages like Python or Scala.
• Experience with analytical platforms such as Power BI, Azure ML, Databricks, or Synapse.
• Familiarity with Azure DevOps and GitHub preferred.
Industry Knowledge: P&C Insurance experience is a plus.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
